Overview

Simply put, we wouldn't be able to do all of our work in the community without our volunteers. The first step to becoming an NMCS volunteer is to complete an application.

  • Food Pantry: Come once, come twice – no long-term commitment is required! Individuals interested in becoming a Food Pantry volunteer must fill out a short application, and after will receive links to sign up for all available dates. Shifts are available in the morning (8:30 – 11:30), and afternoon (12:30 – 3:30). The morning shift is responsible for unloading and unpacking food deliveries from the SF-Marin Food Bank, and then packaging up an assortment of fresh and packaged food for families. The afternoon shift is responsible for organizing the flow of clients and distributing bags at our outdoor, drive-through pantry. The first step in volunteering for the food pantry is to complete a volunteer application. Once the application is completed and approved, you will be able to sign up for our upcoming food pantry dates. Click here to see our Food Pantry in action.
  • Child Development: If you are comfortable/proficient in math for grades 6-8, you may be interested in volunteering as a middle school tutor! Opportunities are available Monday through Thursday, 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. In addition to proof of COVID vaccination, Child Development volunteers must provide proof of immunity for measles, pertussis, and influenza, along with a negative tuberculosis test within the past year. Adults must also complete a background screening. To get started, please complete the interest form here.
  • Peer Health Promoters: The Novato Teen Clinic waiting room is staffed by teen and young adult volunteers, who make a yearlong commitment to volunteer. Peer Health Promoters (PHPs) educate Novato Teen Clinic clients about safer sex and help make the waiting room a welcoming space. If you are interested in becoming a PHP, please submit an application at the link hereSee a video about the Novato Teen Clinic here.
